GymRat is useful tool. I like that I am able to get updates on class changes via email as well as on Facebook. I like how the application gives you exercise options. It might be helpful if it could adjust the weight and reps depending on the users height, weight, body fat and skill level. I will continue to use this application.

Before I purchase the app, does it support metric weights and measures?

Tim Stephenson said on Friday, August 28, 2009:

Hi Paul

Yes it does. Go to the settings from the spring board. Select GymRat and there you can adjust preferences for weight and distance.

Does this app allow me to record measurements, BMI and Body Fat % for each clients? I would like to be able to keep record of this info so we can track each customer progress. So I am looking for the ability to set up multiple entries for each client. It would also be great if it calculated the differences between each subsequent entry so client can see over total of inches or bf% lost.
If not and it's something you are interested in adding to GymRat, I can send a PDF of the doc we use to input this info for clients.
Thanks,
Tracy

I'm thinking of using this program, changing over from GymBuddy. It looks pretty cool, but I've got some questions.

In future editions, will the ability to input multiple sets with different weight and reps into the workout log? Also, will there be additional categories for bike rides (road and mountain) to log those types of workouts as well?

Ellen said on Tuesday, November 03, 2009:

Tracy - you can enter the BMI, weight and % body fat for each client. However, when you edit this information it writes over the last entry. Doesn't currently save any data that is not logged. But we've added this to our list of possible updates. Thank for your input!

Ellen said on Tuesday, November 03, 2009:

Al - Adding multiple sets is possible by duplicating the exercise in your workout list. Once you've added an exercise to your exercise list, you need only select it again to add it to your workout. That may seem like a workaround, but we thought it was easier to view in the log this way. We're still reviewing this one for a better solution.
Re Categories: Choose the More...button on bottom menu. Select Categories. Click Add in the upper right hand corner. Now you can manage your own categories!

I purchased gymrat for the iphone and mostly it works well for me. I do have a list of questions / enhancement requests / Bug reports.

1. QUESTION: Once I've created a workout, how do I edit it? Specifically, I'd like to change the order of the exercises.

2. ENHANCEMENT: I'd like to be able to export the data in a CSV format. Can you make that an option for the send email?

3. ENHANCEMENT: The log should have a calendar view option. I'd like to be able to see by day / week / month when I've worked out, and which workouts I've done.

4. ENHANCEMENT: Allow for customization of share on Facebook message. I don't mind the gymrats byline, but I would like the message posted to my friends to be mine, not yours.

5. BUG: Every time I try to email a workout to a person, it ends the app. Since I don't really want to share my workout info with anyone but myself, I just email to gymrats and send it to me that way.

Ive just downloaded gymrat and when i go to create a user it freezes.
How can this problem be sorted out?

Michael said on Saturday, January 22, 2011:

I have the same exact problem as Brian. I purchased this app and installed on my iPhone 4, but when I go to add a user, the app freezes.

It's been useless to me!!

What can I do?????

Ellen said on Wednesday, February 02, 2011:

All FB connect issues have been resolved. Please be sure to download the new version to get the fix.

Hey Jesse:

Thanks for using GymRat!

How to change the order of exercises in a workout.

Go to the workout and click Edit. Drag and drop each exercise to the order that you want by placing your finger on the icon located to the far right.

Thanks for the enhancement ideas.. we'll let you know if and when these become available!

As for the issue with emailing the workout, a new version is currently in the App approval process and once available for download should take care of the issue.

Version 1.1.1 is now on iTunes. Thanks to Mike for helping us find the issues that are now fixed!

Jess said on Thursday, March 10, 2011:

hi guys,
this app looks very good.
however, before i buy it (and i have gone through a few because they are not exactly what i need), can you please confirm whether GymRat enables me to plan/save/build a 3month execise schedule??? i.e. i want to input my daily plan. and then workout according to that plan, depending of which day i am on. (and, ideally, be able to see high level plan in a calendar...)
i may have missed something, but it seems to me that most of the exercise apps log the work of the day (which is great), but they don't let you construct your OWN future plan to stick to, taking you through it day by day.
know what i mean?
i'd REALLY appreciate an answer.
MANY thanks!
jess

Hey Jess:

Thanks for asking. GymRat currently logs workout for the day that you worked out but does not specifically allow you to plan future workouts..yet. Great idea and we'll definitely put this on our list of possible future updates. We hope that you will still use our app though to log your daily workouts.

In the meantime, I wish you workout success!

Tammy said on Tuesday, March 22, 2011:

Hi everyone: Just out: GymRat Version 1.1.2. We've fixed some minor bugs but the cool thing is that we can email our workouts without having to close the app! Be sure to get your update on iTunes! Thanks! Tammy
